Mako Combed Cotton:

CASTELLO* utilizes only the highest quality raw products available to produce our luxurious, durable and beautiful products. We utilize 100% Mako Combed Cotton, but what does that actually mean? Cotton classing is based on its fiber length, quality, strength and color. This assures that the individual staples are longer creating fewer breakage points and is resistant to pilling (those pesky little balls of fluff on low quality cotton products).

Mako Combed Cotton is softer version made by treating the cotton fibers before they are spun into yarn. So 100% Mako Combed Cotton is a soft, high quality, very durable & strong fiber with minimal breakage or pilling.

Mercerization is a process to remove impurities from cotton. It prepares to absorb and lock in colors to give them a vibrant look. This process further helps to prevent stains from adhering to the fabric, making laundry a breeze. No need for harsh cleaning chemicals which would reduce the lifespan of your product.

Does a higher thread-count really mean higher quality product?

No, this is a wide spread myth. Quality comes from raw materials used to construct the products.

Thread-count is the number of threads per square inch of fabric. This is true up to 300tc single threads. Then twisted yarns are used to achieve higher thread-counts. 2, 3 or 4 yarns can be twisted together for 400, 500, 600, 1000, or 1200tc’s.

Thread count is a personal preference and higher TC’s are not less durable than lower thread-counts. Finer, twisted threads are stronger than single strands and therefore more durable. A higher tc product will have a more luxurious look and will drape flowingly while a lower tc will have a more structured look.
